Hallo Miss Upendo Tessa and all in the Netherlands!! We are happy that you are very much concerned about us here in Kenya after the just concluded hotly contested presidential elections.

The security situation is now normalizing especially in Nairobi. Here in central nothing ugly has been reported so far. Every thing is running normal in Nyeri town, the shops are open and every other business The volunteers are safe and we are carrying our daily activities as usual like visiting the poor families and street children, visiting other children.s homes, etc, but I can assure you that We are very safe here and all the kids are doing great.

We expect schools are going to open next week, and the school going kids can hardly wait for the day. Naftali and Carol are also very excited to go to school for the first time. However we are not sure whether there shall be a delay in the opening of schools but the government has not announced any changes to that.

The areas of security concern are Eldoret, Kisumu, Mombassa and some parts of Nairobi of course not the city centre but mostly in the slum areas of Kibera and Mathare. Most affected people are seeking refuge in churches though in Eldoret people were burnt in a Pentecostal church. Most of the people lack the basic necessities but Red Cross society is assisting them a lot. A lot of women and children have been gang raped. I can say it is very heartbreaking for us people who have enjoyed peace in this country for a very long time.

We hope and pray that our leaders from both sides of the Government and the opposition shall keep aside their differences and forge a peace initiative for us common people because we are the ones who suffer most when such a situation arises.

Please say hallo to your families and friends and don't forget to pray for peace in Kenya. God bless you all!!
