Safari njema!
Als je in een mooi land bent om daar goed werk te verrichten is het zeker ook een aanrader om wat meer van het land te zien. In het weeshuis zie je een deel van Kenia, de kinderen en door hun achtergronden is het af en toe best even slikken en emotioneel zwaar. De meeste kinderen hebben namelijk een zware tijd achter de rug. Verder zie je in Nyeri stad ook veel straatkinderen en armoede, het is dan heerlijk om daar ter plekken te kunnen helpen maar ook dit is af en toe best emotioneel. Dus, als je even lekker de zorgen wilt vergeten en puur wilt genieten van geweldige natuur en prachtige dieren, je accuu wilt opladen om daarna met nieuwe energie de kids te helpen, dan ga je op safari!

Vanuit Upendo Children's Centre hebben we een safari gids in dienst, Stanley. Stanley kent alle wildparken op zijn duimpje en laat je werkelijk de meest mooie pleken van Kenia zien. Je kunt je safari al vanuit Nederland met hem regelen (via mij kijg je zijn contactgegevens) of hij kan ter plekken in Kenia naar je toe komen om daar de mogelijkheden te bespreken.

Er zijn verschilende parken waar je heen kun gaan en vanuit Nyeri zijn Masaai Mara, Nakuru, Naivasha, Hell's Gate en Samburu het best bereikbaar. Alle parken zijn verschillend met eigen dieren en natuur, voor ieder wat wils. De kosten van een safari zijn variabel, het ligt eraaan wat je zelf wilt, een luxe lodge of lekke in de tent. De kosten van de safari zijn wel dekkend voor alles, in de prijs zit de reis, overnachting, persoonlijk kok inclusief maaltijden, parkentree en natuurlijk de chaffeur/ gids inbegrepen. Je hoeft alleen je eigen drinken te bekostigen.

PARKS & GAME RESERVES IN KENYA
Aberdare National Park
Unusual vegetation, rugged terrain, streams and waterfalls combine to create an area of great scenic beauty in the National Park.
Amboseli Game Reserve
Large concentrations of wildlife occur here in the dry season, making Amboseli a popular tourist destination.
Lake Baringo
Home for hippos, crocodiles, and over 400 species of birds.
Lake Bogoria National Park
Lake Bogoria’s western shore is a bed of hot springs and bowholes.
Lake Naivasha
Walk around the island and view at close range, zebra, waterbuck, giraffe and several species of antelope.
Lake Nakuru
Set in a landscape of surrounding woodland and grassland.
Marsabit National Park:
The reserve has three spectacular crater lakes most scenic and famous from early films and writings of Martin Johnson and Vivien de Wattville.
Masai Mara Game Reserve
The Masai Mara National Reserve is probably the most famous and most visited Reserve in Kenya. It offers breathtaking views (as seen in the film "Out of Africa", much of which was filmed here).
Meru National Park:
Numerous permanent streams, draining from the Nyambenes and flowing in parallel between tounges of lava, south eastwards towards the Tana River.
Mt. Kenya National Park
Mountain climbing and game viewing.
Nairobi National Park
Nairobi National Park is unique by being the only protected area in the world with a variety of animals and birds close to a capital city.
Samburu Game Reserve
You will see species here you won’t see anywhere else and yes, they are uniformly beautiful. Reticulated giraffe, boldly marked blocks separated by the finest of lines, delicately browse through acacia branches.
Shaba National Reserves
Buffalo springs and swampy areas
Shimba Hills National Reserve
Offers a fenced elephant corridor and connects the Shimba Hills with Mwaluganje Forest Reserve to the North.
Tsavo East
One of the world's wildlife and biodiversity strongholds
Tsavo West
Contains a diversity of habitats, wildlife and a mountainous scenic landscape.

FULL ITINERARY
Day 1 – Lake Nakuru National Park
Met on arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, or another place in Nairobi, briefed by a company representative (Stanley) and drive towards the Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru National Park arriving at Lake Nakuru in time for lunch. At 1600hrs, enjoy an afternoon game drive in park that also takes you to the shores of the lake famous for its birdlife, especially flamingos that form a pink hue across the lake.Dinner and overnight at the lodge/camp.
Day 2- Masai Mara National Reserve
Depart Nakuru after breakfast and drive through the floor of the Rift Valley to the world famous Masai Mara game reserve, arriving at Maasai mara in time for lunch. At 1600hrs enjoy an afternoon game drive in the reserve.Dinner and overnight at the lodge/camp.
Day 3- Masai Mara National Reserve
Full day in the reserve with both morning and afternoon game drives at 0630hrs and 1600hrs respectively. The Mara is the northern extension of the Serengeti and its rolling plains are home to hundreds of plains game together with predators that feed on them.All meals and overnight at Lodge/camp.
Day 4- Depart
Depart the Mara after breakfast and drive back to Nairobi arriving early afternoon. Lunch at the famous Carnivore restaurant, justifiably referred to as Africa’s Greatest Eating Experience, having twice been voted amongst the worlds 50 best restaurants by UK based Restaurant magazine. Drop off in Nairobi.
